Alongside the Women’s World Cup Tournament, FIFA hosts a pop-up Museum exhibition in Sydney titled “Calling the Shots: Faces of Women’s Football”, showcasing a collection of memorabilia from past competitions.
The exhibition is a tribute to the inspiring individuals who have profoundly shaped women’s football across all its facets. It runs from July 20th to August 20th at the FIFA Fan Festival™ in Tumbalong Park, Sydney.
At the heart of the exhibition lies the prestigious FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023 Winner’s Trophy, which visitors can admire on selected days.
Grumpy Sailor is A leading Australian Creative Experience Design Studio specialising in creating experience projects and exhibitions for significant events and cultural institutions. The team at Grumpy Sailor was tasked with creating the FIFA Museum Pavillion at the Fan Festival.
One of the prerequisites for the primary trophy showcase featuring the 2023 FIFA Womens Trophy was that it had to be easily accessible for transport throughout the month of the competition.
The team at Grumpy Sailor called on the museum showcase engineers at EMT to design the 80-kilogram cylindrical glass trophy showcase to accommodate uncomplicated periodic access to the trophy.
EMT designed the trophy showcase with three lifting actuators to raise the 80 kg glass cylinder with a simple button push.
When the 2023 Women’s World Cup Tournament is completed, the trophy and trophy case will be transported to its permanent home in the FIFA Museum in Zurich, Switzerland.
