European Museum Technology engineered and fabricated visual art and document display units in Melbourne, completing final installation at M+ Museum in Hong Kong via remote protocols and video conferencing during international travel restrictions.

Background & Scope

This project focused on the M+ Museum for Visual Culture in Hong Kong and its need for special display units to show visual art and fragile archival paper items. The display units were built at EMT’s Melbourne facilities, but because of international travel restrictions, the team had to find a different way to handle the final installation on site.

Off-Site Fabrication & Mechanical Assembly

Detailing the structural steel sub-frame construction, metal cladding, and integrated pull-out drawer mechanism engineered in Melbourne to allow secure access to display surfaces while integrating internal lighting assemblies.

Remote Deployment & Guidance Protocols

Outlining the remote installation methodology executed by EMT, utilising technical manuals and real-time video conferencing to guide local teams through final assembly and positioning on site in Hong Kong.
