The Lounge Wall Unit Display Cases: Integrated Library Vitrines

A disciplined modular sequence pairing architectural fluted millwork with invisible electronic security.

Spanning the perimeter of the Phrontisterion lounge, this modular sequence of ten wall unit display cases integrates upper illuminated vitrines with lower interactive display drawers. Featuring fluted half-dowel timber faces and flush internal glazing, the installation protects archived assets via automated solenoid locking systems concealed entirely within the chassis to maintain clean, uninterrupted vertical lines.

Architectural Cadence and Curatorial Display

Within the lounge, a modular sequence of ten wall unit display cases spans the perimeter, establishing a unified architectural presence. Each vertical vitrine pairs a dark structural outer carcass with a warm timber interior lining, composed specifically to hold curated literary volumes and historical artefacts. Integrated illumination within the upper glass-fronted sections highlights the collection across adjustable shelves, achieving a disciplined curatorial presentation.

Kinematic Casework and Invisible Security

The lower casework incorporates an advanced functional layer, in which the drawers serve as standalone display vitrines secured beneath internal glass enclosures. Sliding outward with smooth, weighted precision, these drawers reveal archived assets protected under flush glazing. The exterior drawer faces maintain visual continuity through fluted half-dowel timber millwork and recessed, semicircular brass pull handles.

Securing these interactive display drawers relies on an invisible electronic defence network. Automated locking systems and solenoid latches integrate directly into the rear slide rails of the internal chassis, completely removing the need for conventional keyholes. This understated engineering preserves the clean vertical lines of the fluted woodwork, keeping the lounge environment visually uninterrupted.
